Replacement

How to have abundance of time?

Having more with less

When I have started journey to the less, I was all alone by myself. I didn't expect there are so many people who are like me desiring to have more with less. Until lately, we managed to connect like-minded people together via social media like Facebook and WhatsApp. No doubt that our group have grown, but each of us have lesser stuffs now as compared when we all first started.

So as today topic is about replacement, therefore I would like to share one of the ways that works for me on the journey to minimalism.

One good gadget for replacement for most of our clutters is our smartphone. And because of my smartphone, I no longer own or own lesser now for the items listed below (I will explain why too):
  • Watches (my phone can tell me the date and time)
  • Alarm clock (I can set alarm with my phone)
  • GPS (I used to own a Garmin GPS in my car, now I don't need it because google map app replaced it)
  • Car (I can now book for private car using app like GrabRyde, Tada or SIX rider app <--- apply promo code "OVD1U4" to get $5 off and 5% discount perpetually. If I need to use a car, I can rent from Smove)
  • Papers (I take down important notes using note app on my phone)
  • Remote control (Most of the time I'm controlling my TV with my phone)
  • Camera & Camcorder (my phone apps are able to provide these functions too!)
  • DVDs or CDs (I listen to music online via spotify, other apps etc)
  • Photos (I hardly keep physical photos now. Majorities are in digital format)
  • Physical cash (I'm using digital payment like, Payoneer, Paypal, skrill, google pay, DBS paylah <--- use referral code "YON412634" to get $5 FREE, etc If I need to use physical cash, I will use this app called "soCash" to withdraw at any nearest minimarts)
  • Cordless Phone (though I have two and one of them already spoiled but I never thought of getting new one. Decided to use my mobile phone instead)
  • Newspaper or magazines (For pretty long time, I'm watching them via my apps already)
  • Books (Buying digital copy if I need to. I have some ebooks in my app, let me know if you are interested)
  • Voice recorder (using app too 😊)
  • Promotional Vouchers (been using apps like Fuzzie, Shopback, Eatigo etc)
  • Parking coupons (I'm using an app called parking.sg, click here <--- to watch video on how I use it)
  • Games console (I used to play games on console like PS4, nowadays only play games via apps)
  • Calculators (used to have them during my school days. Now mostly use calculator apps on my phone)
  • Bicycles (using ofo mainly due to oBike shut down. Used to have 2-3 bicycles, now left with one kid bike and my kids hardly pedal on them)
And because of minimalism, my phone mainly only has one page of apps (including those inside folders). When I stare on my phone screen, I feel a sense of serenity instead of clutter of stress/anxiety. How about you?

Looking at the above items, that's the power of "intentional minimalism". If you are on the journey to the less and have a smartphone, you too can "minimalize" all those stuffs.

If you find this post useful, please share with those on this journey too.

Hope to hear from you soon............ 😉
